Creative Direction & Design For The Electric Revival Concert 2024
I was hired for creative direction and lead design for the Electric Revival Concert 2024.
This letter is going to serve as a case-study for this massive project I took on this year. There’s a lot to cover, so I’ll keep the talking points brief. I hope this gives you a better understanding of my creative process!
For reference, the event sold 3,000+ tickets. If I’d have to estimate, I’d say that there were closer to 4,000 people in attendance. With a lineup featuring Gibby, John Robert, Hailey Knox, Soren, and Benson Boone.
Here’s are some photos so you can get an idea of the scale of the event:
I started with a concept in mind and completely rebranded the festival to create an entirely new aesthetic that incorporated a modern, sleek design, with subtle hints of retro rock and roll throughout.
List Of Deliverables:
Web Design, Lockscreen, Ticketing Platform
Event Poster Creation
Festival Logo Design
Sponsorship Pitch Deck
3D Festival Teaser animations
Event Patches
Event Merchandise Collaboration with Lonely Ghost
Stage Visuals
Event Signs and Graphics
I’m going to walk you through some of the decisions I made across these different deliverables and let you in on my thought process.
Let’s start with the logo design…
Logo Design
A good logo starts with an idea. In short, Electric Revival 2024 was a one day concert, featuring live music, food, custom merchandise, and a fireworks show.
The idea for Electric Revival was to create an experience that blends the old school rock and roll concerts of the past with a modern twist, hence the “Revival” in the title. I drew reference from retro inspired elements, but incorporated a modern and sleek design update. As per all of my projects, I started with two large sheets of design concepts. Lots of iteration was key in these steps. Here are some screenshots of some of the concepts I created for the logo:
I also played around with different color palettes, here are some early generations:
After many revisions, we landed on the final logo and colors:
This logo served as the ‘home base’ on which every other visual asset was built upon.
It was important to nail the colors and styling to make the rest of the branding cohesive.
Event Posters:
After the logo was finalized, I set out to create a variety of posters for the event.
As always, I started with a wide variety of concepts.
I created a total of 30 different poster variations - I’ll share a screenshot of some of my favorites below:
We settled on this one as the main poster (I also included slight variations):
ANIMATED POSTERS (3D):
We needed a way to create some hype for the festival, as well as create some social media content to promote the Instagram account.
The goal was to create something that incorporated the posters I designed, while also making them engaging enough to be shared within the fast paced video centric social media algorithm.
Here are two of my favorites that I created:
And here are some other animations I made early on that didn’t make the cut. I think it may be helpful to show you that not everything I make is going to be approved. And that’s okay. My goal as a designer is to fit the needs of the client in the best way possible. It is ultimately their final decision to make about what get’s used.
Here are some early variations of the animated posters:
You’ll notice that I ended up re-using and slightly tweaking some of these un-used assets to create stage visuals for the event.
Stage Visuals:
I set out to create a bunch of stage visuals for the event, mainly separated into the following:
Title specific animations that feature ‘Electric Revival’. These served as the home base visual loops that played before, after, and in between sets.
Specially curated visuals to match the songs for the ‘Soren’ set, a band performing right before the headliner that I have been working with over the past few months.
Generic visual loops to fill in for the other performers or supplement existing material.
I ended up creating a total runtime of 90 minutes worth of visuals, a total of over 100+ animated visuals. Here is a 60 second showcase of 35 of my favorite stage animations I created. You can check out the specifics here on this page if you want to see more, as well as photos showcasing these live on stage:
Merchandise:
We were looking for ways to engage the community and encouraged them to take a piece of the event home with them in the form of custom t-shirts, bags, and patches.
I created the visual assets for the merchandise and sent them to Lonely Ghost, a Utah based clothing brand, for custom merch collaboration.
Here is what the final merchandise looked like:
Patches:
Here are some behind the scenes screenshots of the patches I designed for the event.
These patches were ironed onto t shirts live at the event. Consumers were allowed to mix and match whichever they liked. This allowed for the creation of 1 of 1 custom garments in real time.
Website Creation & Design:

Miscellaneous Assets:
I also created a handful of miscellaneous design assets for the festival, including, but not limited to parking signs, access passes, food vouchers, VIP badges, and event signs.
Here are just a few:
SPONSORSHIP KIT (PITCH DECK):
On the backend, it was important to create a pitch deck that helped get investor’s involved.
So I went through an exhaustive round of revisions crafting a pitch deck that was enticing, yet informative. We were able to secure funding for this festival with the help of the pitch deck I created.
Due to security reasons, I have blurred the pitch deck to omit important details about the event.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I’d just like to extend a special thanks to the Electric Revival team for trusting me with this project.
It was a long 6 months of back and forth communication, revisions, and execution.
Turning an idea into tangible products is extremely fulfilling and it’s a huge reason why I do this.
If you were lucky enough to attend the event, thank you for being a part of something special!
More project breakdowns soon.
Thanks for reading!
